Real Estate Investment Trusts

What Is a REIT?

A Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) is a company that owns, operates, or finances income-producing real estate. By pooling capital from multiple investors, REITs provide access to large-scale, diversified real estate portfolios that would ordinarily be inaccessible to individual investors.

In Nigeria, REITs are regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and are listed on the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX).

Key Features of REITs

  • Minimum 75% of assets in real estate
  • Minimum 90% of income distributed as dividends
